BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
THE LIVING INCOME AGENDA
Living Income Roadmap
IDH has developed a Living Income Roadmap to support the private sector on how to take actions to close the living income gaps. We have concrete tools and are further developing guidance on what the private sector can do. Together with our partner LICOP, the private sector partners who form the Steering Committee of the Living Income Roadmap and BCTI, we want to drive action and impactful collaboration between stakeholders by creating a multi-stakeholder framework for action to close living income gaps.
PURPOSE AND KEY AGENDA ITEMS
The purpose of the Living Income Summit is to amplify the overarching message that we have reached the limits of the old ways of collaborating on increasing smallholder incomes, and it is time for impactful collaboration between stakeholders. This means that we urge all stakeholders around the table to step out of their comfort zones and join us in transforming barriers into bridges in order to close living income gaps.
The target audience is change makers representing all relevant stakeholder groups, so senior representatives with mandate and willingness to bring about real change in their organization’s approach to addressing living income gaps among smallholder farmers.
Setting the scene:
The event will bring across that the concept of a Living Income is much welcomed and can serve to quantify the ambition of bringing about a just transition from an extractive economy to a regenerative one. Due to recent geo-political events, the challenges of closing the gaps to living incomes have multiplied as the cost of leading a decent life are severely increasing. All the more reason to act now and to collaborate for impact.
Making it real:
We will deep-dive into the Living Income concept, including the income drivers and examples of more versus less effective interventions.
Through a number of sector and geography specific case studies, the idea of multi-stakeholder collaboration to transform barriers into bridges will be brought to life.
Getting to work:
At the Living Income Summit, representatives from the private sector, the public sector, the financial sector, farmer representatives, civil society and academia will be invited to contribute to the discussion and the co-creation of the Multi-stakeholder Framework for Action. As output of the Summit all in-person participants will be able to say that they contributed to the next version of the Multi-stakeholder Framework for Action on Living Income, and know where to start for changing their approach to Living Incomes.
