Dr. Chang is currently Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Diego. The overall goal of Dr. Chang’s research program is to make fundamental discoveries that have the potential to result in new insights for human health. His laboratory was the first to apply single-cell transcriptional profiling approaches to the study of CD8 T cell differentiation (Arsenio et al., Nature Immunology 2014). Dr. Chang’s laboratory is also conducting translational studies to better understand the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel diseases and to identify new therapeutic targets for these diseases. His group was among the first to report a potential role for CD8 tissue-resident memory CD8 T cells in inflammatory bowel disease (Boland et al., Science Immunology 2020).
