AFSP’s #RealConvo Concert May 2025, with guest Jonah Marais
AFSP’s #RealConvo Concert series is a place for talented, popular musicians to share music and stories about what inspires them to create music that touches on themes of mental health. The show features live musical performances, along with spirited interviews and the opportunity for viewers to submit questions in real time to the artists.
In the latest #RealConvo Concert, showcasing Mental Health Awareness Month 2025, AFSP’s Director of Writing and Entertainment Outreach Brett Wean is joined by musician Jonah Marais, who began his musical journey live streaming from his bedroom in 2016, and who built a following that led to him co-found the renowned band Why Don’t We, which amassed over 8 billion global streams, earned two RIAA Platinum‑certified singles, five RIAA Gold‑certified singles, two Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 and sold‑out tours at legendary venues worldwide.
Now a solo artist featured in Amazon's 2025 Artist to Watch campaign, Jonah this past year released The Jonah Marais Mixtape, featuring the song “Slow Motion,” which is currently at over 4 million streams globally and reached #29 at US POP Radio. His highly anticipated debut solo EP is set to drop May 16.
Jonah, who has been open about his own mental health journey, is increasingly highlighting the topic in his music, including the new single, "Better Place," which is centered around the importance of reaching out for support.
