Speaker Bio
David is a founding partner at Lobby Capital. For the last 25 years he has worked closely with technology entrepreneurs to help them build transformative businesses. Prior to founding Lobby Capital, David was a partner at August Capital for 20 years. He teaches courses in entrepreneurship and venture capital at Stanford Business School and Harvard Law School, and serves as a VC Partner at the Harvard Business School. David started the first venture capital blog, VentureBlog, and the first venture capital podcast, VentureCast, and is the host of LobbyTV. He has served as the Tech Curator for the TED Conference in Vancouver and was the co-creator and host of TEDxStanford. David has received Deloitte’s Venture Capitalist of the Year award and has been honored by Forbes Magazine as a member of its Midas List of top Venture Capitalists.
Sam advises founders, boards of directors, startup/venture-backed and mature companies and investors in a broad set of transactions, including early- and late-stage equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic joint ventures and corporate governance and board members. Chambers USA consistently ranks Sam among the leading lawyers for startups and emerging companies. In 2020, The Legal 500 also highlighted him among the United States’ leading lawyers for venture capital and emerging companies work. Sam was also honored on TechCrunch’s inaugural list of top startup lawyers in 2019. Sam sits on the advisory board of the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the University of California, Berkeley and guest lectures for their Decode startup success class. He also frequently lectures at the Haas School of Business and the Stanford Technology Ventures Program. Sam is active with the entrepreneurial community, serving as a mentor for StartX, a 1,200+ community of serial entrepreneurs and tenured Stanford professors.
Daniela has lived and worked in both Europe and the US for many years. In that time, she has gained extensive experience in technology and international business development, operations and strategic sales. As head of US Business Development at Speedinvest, Daniela now advises European companies on how to the US market and connecting them with the broader Silicon Valley ecosystem. Daniela has launched products in 27+ countries, guided the regulation of digital products in coordination with governments, lobbying groups, private and state-owned companies in Europe. In Silicon Valley, she made a significant contribution to the go-to-market strategy for the Kleiner Perkins-backed company, Area1 Security. She led a major business unit and closed the first 40+ deals. As a mentor for HenkelX, she contributed to Henkel’s entrepreneurial transformation. Daniela is a mentor at the German Accelerator Silicon Valley, helping emerging and established German tech startups to succeed in the US with tasks comprising US market entry, fundraising, go-to-market strategy, and enterprise sales.
